Mission

The diocesan Office of Worship provides liturgical resources for pastors and parishes, aiding them to implement the vision of the Church's Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy regarding "full, conscious and active participation" in the public prayer of the Church.

The Office of Worship accomplishes its mission through:

bulletProviding consultative service to pastors and other parish leaders regarding liturgical issues
bulletSponsoring various periodic workshops on liturgical formation for clergy and laity
bulletAdvising the bishop regarding liturgical matters, in collaboration with the diocesan Liturgy, Art and Music Board
bulletCollaborating with other diocesan departments, especially within the Secretariat of Christian Formation and with the Office of Evangelization, regarding resourcing and training, with special emphasis on the Holy Eucharist and on Christian Initiation
bulletAssisting the bishop and presbyterate with the planning and execution of special ceremonies, such as ordinations and church dedications

Liturgy, Art and Music Board

The diocesan Liturgy, Art and Music Board is composed of persons with various kinds of expertise in pastoral liturgy, architecture, art and music (click here to view a list of its current membership). It serves as the official diocesan Liturgical Commission, an advisory board to the bishop and to the director of the Office of Worship. In particular, the LAMB reviews and offers recommendations to the bishop prior to any new construction or renovation of worship spaces in the diocese, including the art and furnishings of these.

Acting in concert a a member, the Office of Worship and the Liturgy, Art and Music Board represent the Diocese of Baton Rouge in Region V of the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions.
